As we begin teaching our Kindhearted Kids Humane Education Program we will update our progress with student, teacher, and parent comments along with pictures.

Our first Two by Two Kindhearted Kids class was a success! Twenty seven enthusiastic third and forth grade students learned how to be responsible and respectful foster pet parents during our July, 2006 class held at the Dubuque Regional Humane Society. Special thank you to the DRHS for letting us use your fabulous facility and introducing us to some of your furry friends.

Throughout the week, students were excitingly engaged in the following hands-on activities:

  • Listened, watched, and actively got involved in a play about a responsible family that adopts a pet and lives by the Golden Rule
  • Read and sang about how to be a helping hand to their new stuffed dog or cat
  • Calculated veterinarian and pet supply costs in order to make good decisions
  • Acted out and sang people, dog, and cat safety tips
  • Added up pet populations using manipulatives to see what happens if we don't spay or neuter our pets

We truly had a dog-gone good time! The video below tells the true "tail"...
